Wisdom Comes with Time
It is sad how the younger generations are treating the aged. I mean in the past old people would live within the family unit being a source of wisdom while also being able to help with the children. Nowadays we ship them out. Yes. Literally get rid of them. They have become like a plague, an illness we do not want near. So many of us are guilty of farming them out to live unnatural existences in homes and institutions. We love them we say but cannot cope. Our lives are just too busy. We visit once a month and make comments like, Oh she is getting really good care George. Did you see how clean the place is. The truth is our parents gave us life. They deserve a little more in the golden years, Oh sure, some are in need of help but more important than clean linen is maybe a bit of love. I used to love and listen to the stories that my grandparents told me and am proud to say that instead of being sent off to some home my parents bought the house over the road and employed a home health care person so that we could be close. He did have professional help and we were close. I win-win situation.
